Learning for a Future Worth Living draws on key ideas from the Future:Guide Education, distills them, and develops them further. Through 21 thought-provoking ideas, the book invites readers to question familiar notions of learning, achievement, and education, and to view education as a cultural, relational, and societal task of shaping the future.
The book was created in collaboration with The Future:Project. It opens up new perspectives, links fundamental questions to concrete examples, and serves as an invitation to think further—for anyone exploring how learning can be redesigned in the context of social and technological transformation.
Social transformations are changing the conditions under which we live, work, and learn. The Future:Guide Education explores the role education can play in this process and how future-oriented learning could be shaped.
The focus is on four meta-strategies that use societal transformation processes as a starting point for the further development of education. Twenty-three good practice examples —ranging from game-based learning to extended reality and artificial intelligence — illustrate the practical opportunities that arise from these strategies. Supplementary scenarios offer a glimpse into possible futures for education in 2035.
