Gamification & Game-Based Learning

As a trainer for the Department of Education Baden-Württemberg, I was involved in the creation of a training module on gamification and game-based learning.

The training module consists of an escape game in which participants experience gamification and games in the context of various school subjects firsthand.

The storyline is that DEiSy, the soul of the educational platform, locks the participants in a room due to a data leak. During the time of isolation, they go through several challenges. What DEiSy doesn’t know: in the challenges there are codes with which you can open a suitcase that contains the key to the room.

The four challenges:

  • VR: One participant with a city map guides a second participant, who is in the city in VR, to various houses under which parts of the code can be found. This is done in English.
  • Coding: A drone has to be programmed so that it takes a photo of a code that is otherwise impossible to reach.
  • Minecraft: Two players work together to solve puzzles from the fields of art and science that result in a code.
  • Classcraft: A virtual rally on the subject of history that leads to a code.
